A Fabulous Escape

Hello from the beautiful city of Bangkok! I am thoroughly exhausted right now because I just came back from a 3 hour spa & massage and my whole body is currently in a state of jelly. All I feel like doing is diving into this glorious king sized bed and going to sleep right away, but I told myself that I would at least start drafting this blog post tonight.

A few days ago, I uploaded a 2014 Summer Lookbook video on my Youtube channel. If you haven't watched it yet, you're missing out! Doing a photoshoot in the busy local streets of Sheung Wan, Hong Kong was definitely interesting. It involved a lot of staring and pointing from strangers. Hence, most of the photos here were photobombed.

This has got to be one of my favourite outfits of the summer. It’s eye-catching and bold. If want to elongate your legs, find yourself a pair of high waisted shorts pronto. I paired these shorts with a striped long sleeve cropped top. As for the shoes, I gotta show some love to my epic platform heels. To accessorize, I wore a wide brim beach hat and added some silver bangles. And to add that kabam (is that even a word?) factor, I wore these amazing sunglasses and a red lip colour. These two elements just add the perfect touch of colour to this monochrome look.

Monster Sushi (Hong Kong)

 Mango California Roll

 Fried Udon

Scallop & Salmon Sushi; Salmon in three styles

 Fish

House Special Sashimi Flower (Seared Sea Urchin Sauce; Fatty Tuna; Snapper)

Sea Urchin & Kurama Shrimp Sushi

The other day, I did a photoshoot and filmed an upcoming fashion video in Langham Place in Hong Kong (vlog here). By the time I finished shooting for 2 outfits, I was exhausted and hungry. I decided to give Monster Sushi a try. Despite going on a weekday, I still had to wait 20-30 minutes. With this being said, it was definitely worth it. I loved the food there. I have never been a fan of sushi rolls but the mango california roll was a game changer. I loved the contrast between the sweet mango and salty roll - it was perfect.

I must say, my favourites were the sea urchin & kurama shrimp sushi and the cooked fish. Unfortunately, I could not find the exact name of the cooked dish in their online menu. This fish was amazing because the tomato sauce made it seem like a Japanese x Italian cuisine fusion. The fish itself was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. It was delightful. On the other hand, the sea urchin & kurama shrimp sushi was very fresh and stood out amongst all the others.

Despite the long wait and the fact that the waitress gave us the wrong dish, my experience at Monster Sushi was enjoyable. There was a relatively large variety in the menu, including the restaurant's signature "Monster Creativity" dishes. Not to mention, this meal was not expensive at all! If I remember correctly, the meal ended up being a little unver $500 HKD.

RED

I don't think I have ever worn a long dress before. Let alone a bright red one, that has a 5 meter long train...in the middle of summer. Believe it or not, a lot of hard work was put into wearing this dress. It took almost 45 minutes just to put on the dress and I needed assistance from 2 helpers too! Crazy isn't it? Definitely worth it though.

If you follow me on Youtube or Instagram, you would know that I am now back in Hong Kong. I will be staying here until the end of August. While I'm here, I will be travelling to Taiwan, and possibly Korea as well. Stayed tuned for some travelling blog posts.
