2013 Boxing Day Haul

After a 2 month hiatus on my Youtube channel, I'm finally back!

Aside from when I completely done using certain makeup products or the seasons change and I need to switch up my wardrobe, I usually don't go shopping (because I am immersed in my academics and extracurriculars haha). This is why Boxing Day was the perfect opportunity for me to buy all the things I need for the upcoming year :)

A list of the items mentioned in the above video:

ANASTASIA
Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel (in Brunette) ($29.00 + tax)

I tried this product out at Sephora and loved the look it gave my brows. The only worry I had when purchasing this brow gel was that the formula was too dry and not much product was on the spoolie. This brow gel is pigmented and I find that I can use it just on its own, without a brow pencil or shadow underneath.

URBAN DECAY
24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set ($68.00 + tax)

I bought it from Sephora but you can purchase it online from Urban Decay's actual website.

ANTHROPOLOGIE
Measuring Gaggle ($20.35)

This has got to be the most adorable set of measuring devices I own! From smallest to largest, the measurements are 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, and 1 cup. It is still on sale on their website so you should definitely check it out!

FOSSIL
Memoir Novel Flap (in Camel) ($141.00)

DANIER
Sabrina Leather Wallet ($59.00 + tax)

Leather Cross Shoulder Bag ($99.00 + tax)

ZARA
Combined Nylon Parka ($159.99 + tax)

NIKE
Running Shorts ($20.00 + tax)

*I couldn't find the link to the exact pair of shorts. However, I found a similar pair.

Running Shoes
*I couldn't find a link to these running shoes. It would be great if you could send me a link if you see it on their online store! To see how it looks like, watch my video.

URBAN OUTFITTERS - BDG
Wingtip Oxford Shoes (in brown) ($20.00 + tax)

*I couldn't find the link to the exact colour of my oxford shoes. However, here are the shoes in black and here are the shoes in a slightly different design.

4 variations

The 4 cohesive looks will vary in appearance with the help of accessories and outerwear. Feel free to subscribe to my blog (links on the right side) to keep up with the daily looks.

VARIATION 1

VARIATION 2

Paired with thigh high heel boots for a more winter feel.

VARIATION 3

Paired with a winter coat from Zara

VARIATION 4

The clutch I am holding is one inspired from one of my favourite designers, Alexander Mcqueen.

I looked out my window and saw my city still covered in ice and a fresh blanket of snow. As someone who adores winter, I just had to do at least one outdoor photoshoot before it all melted away. The glimmering snow contrasted my dark outfit so well and the scenery was just très bien. Hope all of you stay warm this winter season!

❄ Cozy and Cuddly Korean Music Playlist ❄

Winter...the time of the year where all I want to do all day is listen to soothing music, cuddle, and drink Tim Horton's white hot chocolate w/ a peppermint teabag (my inner Canadian is showing through).

Throughout the past few weeks, I have been posting a variety of song recommendations on my Facebook page

It's become such a common occurrence that I figured I should just post a blog post about these songs. Today's song recommendation theme is...

Cozy and Cuddly Korean Music

Lay Back
by K.Will (케이윌)

I'm starting off this playlist with one of my favourite Korean singers of all time. I'm a huge fangirl when it comes to K.Will. This song is from his previous album - Love Blossom. I can't help but to shout the fan chants every time I hear this song.

넌 내 애인이고 사랑이고 운명이야
by 블루베리 (ft.파니니)

This song sounds like it could be an OST for Korean drama. The singer's voice is soft and sweet. I adore this song and it has been on replay for months now.

Still You (아직도 난)
by Donghae & Eunhyuk from Super Junior (슈퍼주니어)

My type of music: Relaxing, urban, and I adore the snaps in the background!

I'm In Love
by 나르샤 (Narsha ) from 브아걸 (Brown Eyed Girls)

You Deserve Better (충분히 예뻐)
Verbal Jint (ft. Phantom's Sanchez)

I've always been a huge fan of both Verbal Jint and Phantom. Sanchez compliments Verbal Jint's deep voice beautifully in this song.

눈사탕 (Snow Candy)
by 스타쉽플래닛 (Starship Planet)

An adorable MV to go with the bubbly Christmas song sung by Starship Planet's talented artists.

러브레시피 (Love Recipe)
by 클래지콰이 (Clazziquai)

Novabossa
by 클래지콰이 (Clazziquai)

Yet another song from one of my all time favourite bands: Clazziquai.

사랑이란 (Love is...)
by 마끼아또 (Macchiato)

너만 없다 (Gone)
by JIN (진)

JIN's debut single. The music video features EXO's Xiumin and Kim Youjung.

7 Years of Love (cover)
by Kyuhyun (조규현) from Super Junior (슈퍼주니어)

This song has been covered by countless artists before but I really enjoy listening to Kyuhyun sing it. He has a velvet voice and you can hear the emotions. In my opinion, Kyuhyun has one of the best voices in K-POP and I'm sure many would agree with me.

12월의 기적 (Miracles in December)
by EXO

I absolutely love the piano accompaniment in this song. I'm not a huge fan of this song in general but I included it anyway because I think the beginning and end of the song sounds beautiful. I do love the part when the trio sing together around the 2:30 mark.

The First Snow
by EXO

Enough with the Korean ballads! EXO's The First Snow is a cute Winter song. Personally, I prefer this song being sung in Chinese. However, I still love the Korean version. Click here for the Chinese version (初雪). In general, their entire Miracles in December album is great. I love all the songs in there.

Christmas Day
by EXO

Last EXO song....I promise! I cannot even begin to express how much I adore their live performance of this song. You can watch it here:

스치다 (Brushing Past)
by 준수 (Junsu) (ft. Lyn)

Even just the beginning of this song gave me goosebumps.

Love Falls
Lee Jonghyun from CN BLUE & Juniel

미슬토우 (Mistletoe)
Geeks (긱스) & Phantom (팬텀) & Esna (에스나)

This is one of the songs I posted onto my Facebook page. I love this special collab. because it features 2 of my favourite artists - Geeks and Phantom ♥

Cafe Latte (Remix)
by Geeks (긱스) & Urban Zakapa

You can't not love this song.
As the uploader said in their description box...
"Geeks+Urban Zakapa = eargasm"
(For some reason, I could not embed the exact video I wanted but here's the link to the video where the uploader wrote that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_1MyxmGCoY)

I'm going to end this playlist before it gets any longer. This blog post would go on forever if I could post all the songs I like. Regardless, enjoy!

P.O.V

A comfy, yet chic look. Perfect for a long day of Christmas shopping.

Later that day, I met up with my family to celebrate my brother's birthday. We went to a Chinese seafood restaurant and had lobster.

In the midst of attemping to take a photo of the lobster, the manager asked me if I wanted to take a photo with the lobster. And since I'm Sherry, I obviously said yes because I'm weird like that.

Pretty X Scary Chinese Girl

Halloween. The only time of the year where I can shamelessly walk around the streets with a bloody face and ripped skin without hearing people scream.

This year, whether you want to look cute & pretty or spooky & bloody, I've got you covered

Traditional Chinese Girl Look:
The first look consists of a lot of warm colours to give off that romantic vibe.

It's perfect for those who don't feel comfortable wearing costume makeup and dressing up. In fact, you can even wear this on a regular basis! Chinese girls back then desired pale skin so I mixed white face makeup with my regular foundation to appear paler.

I also kept angled my eyeliner downwards and eye brows straight to appear more innocent. Why?

Downward eyeliner = puppy eyes = innocent
Straight, thick eyebrows = youthful

I finished off the look by contouring my nose and lips. If you have thick lips like me, contouring your lips is very important! This is because we are applying red lipstick which stands outs due to its' contrast to the pale base makeup. If you colour your lips entirely in red, this will over power all your other features. You want to keep everything balanced and to a minimum.

Undead Chinese Girl Look:

If you are like me and love going full out when it comes to Halloween, this is perfect for you! So many people have commented on how bloody and horrifyingly scary I look - which I take as a compliment in this case haha.

As you saw in the video, it is not difficult to make your skin look like it was burned or cut. All you need is a peel off mask. I highly recommend Freeman's Feeling Beautiful Cucumber Peel Off Facial Mask

I used it a few times as an actual peel off mask. It was not as impressive as everyone said unfortunately. However, for it's price (around $4.00 CAD), this product is fantastic!
Not only can you use it as a skincare product, but it's for costume makeup purposes as well.

I hope you all liked this look.
If you did, feel free to thumbs up my video and share this blog post ^^ I also just submitted my entry for LOOKBOOK (SPOOKBOOK) x BlackMilk's halloween costume contest.

Palmiers (Butterfly Pastries)

School started again and I'm busier than ever! (Watch my 2013 Back to School Supplies Haul) Even now, there's a pile of work to the left of my computer keyboard just staring back at me asking, "why are you still procrastinating?" Well, not only am I not getting my work done by writing this blog post, but I baked (2 hours) and edited a video (4 hours). I'm such a great, hard-working student :') *note the sarcasm*

I don't regret anything at all though. Why?

This is why.

Don't these palmiers look amazing? ♥ They are so easy to make!

Ingredients:

- White sugar
- Puff Pastry
- Melted butter
- Flour

Tools needed:

- Oven
- Pastry brush
- Dough roller
- Cutting board

How to:

I think this is all I'm going to write for today. I will try my best to update my blog more often but I can't make any promises (unfortunately).

I also think I'm going to revamp my blog soon because I never really loved the colour pink haha! I usually find myself gravitating towards neutral colours instead.

UPDATE: I decided to update the template right away :) It's much easier to navigate around now. I'm still fixing the thumbnails and photos. As you can see in the above photos, it's kind of distorted. I'll get right on that but as I said on my Facebook status....

"I am technologically challenged when it comes to this blog and HTML stuff so I'm going to struggle my way through fixing this  "

I opened a LOOKBOOK account. I used to film OOTD videos but I stopped after a few because I thought those videos were boring. It was also awkward for me to film because they consisted of me posing for 3-5 minutes lol. Ever since I stopped uploading these videos, some viewers asked for more fashion OOTD's. And so, my sister suggested me to check out one of her favourite websites called LOOKBOOK. I gave it a try and posted my first OOTD about a month ago. It's a great website for all you fashion lovers out there. Everyone on LOOKBOOK are super trendy and I'm sure you can find at least one person's fashion taste similar to yours.

For more pictures on this OOTD, check out my LOOKBOOK and Facebook page!

In addition to my new LOOKBOOK account, I finally opened an Instagram account. You can follow me on Instagram via. @abrushofbeauty

First Love

I am usually not the type of person to wear pink dresses, especially ones that have cat patterns all over it with a big black bow hanging off the collar area. However, my self control flew right out the window the moment I tried on this dress and felt the glorious silky material on my skin. It was just too much for me to handle.
I stuck to the cute concept of the dress by pairing it with a simple shoulder leather purse and knee high boots. I parted my hair in the middle and added some loose curls for an added doll effect.
